We have always seen animals facing cruelty in animal slaughterhouse entertainment industry laboratory and poultry farms. But we never think about them. We always talk about our rights. If something bad happens to a person they say that there right are violated. What about the right of animals who can't speak themselves. Who will think about themselves?. Are they have the right to live with dignity. There is one such organization that works for the rights of animals. The name of the organization is PETA.

What does PETA do?

PETA basically means people for the ethical treatment of animals. It is a nonprofit organization. It was formed in the year 1980 on 22 March. This organization is led by Ingrid Newkirk and Pacheco. Its headquarters is in Norfolk Virginia, United States. Every organization has a motto like ILO works for the social and economical development of workers. The same is the PETA they worked for animal rights.

Peta motto is Animals are not ours to experiment to eat, wear, use for entertainment or abuse in any other way.

PETA WORKS

In the year 1981 Peta became popular in public when monkeys are victims of cruelty in the laboratory. 16 macaque monkeys are being experimented in Behavioural laboratory in silver spring.PETA raised their voice against this cruelty. It was for the first time police raided the laboratory. This led to the United States animal welfare acts in 1985. In issue order to release them, They went to court but the court rejected their appeal to release the monkeys. From this event, they are considered as an esteemed organization in the USA.

PETA WORK AREA

Peta mainly focuses on animals' rights. They raised the issue that animals should be treated with respect and dignity.

They organize a campaign for promoting vegan food. They tell people not to eat meat.

They also raised the issue of cruelty with animals in slaughterhouses. Many animals are in the entertainment industry like circus .lt always fun to see lion dance elephant dancing. For attracting people circus brings lion elephant and does cruelty like an electric shock and beating the animals with an iron rod.

PETA raised the issue that in many industries animal flesh is used for making belt shoe slippers. So they organize awareness campaigns in order to make people aware of the cruelty and harassment with animals.

Good work of PETA

In the year 1981, they became popular by raising the issue of silver spring cases where the macaque monkeys are facing cruelty in the Behavioural laboratory where the experiment is going on monkeys. This led to the United States animal welfare act.

In Taiwan, the street dog is drowned into the drowning tanks which result in the death of animals. They raised the voice against one law passed in Taiwan where the car test is being done on animals. Animals were used when the car test is being done. They basically place the animal in front of cars so that the car is not damaged heavily.

PETA INDIA

This nonprofit organization is also active in India. They raised the issue when animal rights are violated. They raised the issue of animal is being used in rituals purposes. They went to Delhi High court for banning meat so that the animal does not have to face cruelty.

PETA India also went to Delhi High court for banning animals in the entertainment industry like in the circus. They also organize a campaign for becoming vegan and adopt food and not eat meat.

PETA Recent controversy

During the festival of Raksha Bandhan. Peta India placed billboard in ahemdabad Delhi with a picture of a cow saying - pls let me free. I am facing mental cruelty. But netizens got angry and said rakhi has nothing to do with animals.

In 2018 during the time of Janmashtami PETA India requested the people to give up milk and try vegan milk and ghee netizens got angry and said that Peta India is against Hinduism and the Hindu festival. Why it always target the Hindu festival? Why it doesn't tell anything to other religions.

PETA India also criticized Priyanka and Nick Jonas's wedding. Peta congratulates for their happy married life but criticized Nick Jonas for riding horses in the wedding. They criticized that horses should not be used in a wedding for riding purposes. Some claim that they are fake, some claim that they are doing a great job.

Animals are also part of the environment.
