What is ecology, environment, types of environment, component of the environment, of the environment in geography, environmental pollution?
ECOLOGY DEFINITION -
Ecology means Oikos meaning home or place to live in and logos mean to study it means the scientific study of nature in terms of flora and fauna or different biomes present on the earth. study means in terms of life and their relevance on the earth and their connectivity with the earth.
the history of the word ecology comes from the past when our ancestor use to it with daily life practices and spent their life in forest habitat and they have acquired knowledge about plant and animals and gone research through it regarding the use and how to take advantage from ENVIRONMENT to fulfill their dreams etc
the classical terminologies have their relevance from the Environment like Vedas, Samhitas, aryankas, Brahmanas, etc
EXAMPLE
we get lots of medicinal of our daily use from the trees which have great importance in todays modern life.
WHAT IS ENVIRONMENT??
Simple defination
Everything which surrounds us lies human, buildings, animals, or any object or affect an organism is called our environment. we can say that the relationship of living (biotic) and nonliving
(abiotic) thing is the environment.
example - chair, ball, human beings, etc
Components of the environment :
BIOTIC ABIOTIC
Green plants Energy
decomposers Soil
parasites Topography
Man Water
Animals Temperature
BRIEF:-
Components of the environment :
BIOTIC:
1.Green plants-
Green plants include all plants which help human beings in providing oxygen through which we sustain on the earth it takes carbon-dioxide which we release and then plant takes it for sustainenace on the earth
2. Decomposers-
decomposers are the living organisms that degrade the living things plant, animal into small minute biodegradable waste.
3. Man-
living things which is present on the earth comes under the category of living things.
example - human beings.
4.Animal -
all animals come under the category of living organisms etc.
ABIOTIC
1. Energy -
Energy from the sun is essential for the sustenance of the earth-sun which directly supplies energy to the earth. the energy which determines the distribution of life on the earth.it support life on the earth.
2.Soil -
soil which forms by the cyclical process of the weathering on the earth rocks by the help of several physical factors such as rain, weather, sun, etc. it supports the life on the earth in the form of plants that provide a base on the earth.
3.Topography-
the arrangement of the physical features on the earth in the form of natural or artificial like mountain, buildings, etc
4.Water-
water which is a very important component on the earth which plays a crucial role in the sustenance of life without it .it is not possible to live life on the earth, etc which composed of oxygen and hydrogen.
5.Temperature-
temperature contributes spatial distribution on the earth it determines the living condition of the population. temperature is the substitute of heat which we actually get from the sun radiation.
Types of environment, or ecosystem
NATURAL ECOSYSTEM
TERRESTRIAL AQUATIC
1. FOREST 1.FRESH WATER
2.GRASSLAND 2.MARINE WATER
3.DESERTS 3.SALINE WATER
ECOTONE
Ecozone is a junction of one or more diverse ecosystem it means it is the confluence of one or more ecosystem which meets at the point is called an ecotone
Ex- Mangroove forests. the junction between aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems.
NICHE
A niche is the unique functional role of the plant or species in an ecosystem. it means it is the description of the chemical and physical species need for the survival of the organisms to live on the earth, reproduce, stay fit on the earth.
TYPES OF NICHE
1. Habitat niche - where it survives
2. food niche - competes for the survival for the food
3.Reproductive niche- reproduce
4.physical niche - temp, land, water, etc
BIOME
The terrestrial part of the biosphere which is divisible into the enormous region it means the division of the part of the earth in different forms where it supports lives like tundra, taiga, tropical evergreen forest, etc.
S.NO REGION FLORA / FAUNA
1. TUNDRA ICE BOUND REGIONS ANIMALS POLAR BEAR, SNOWY OWL, REPTILES.
2.TROPICAL EQUATORIAL REGIONS GREEN TREES WITH CANOPY
RAINFOREST
3.GRASSLANDS N. AMERICA, AFRICA GRASSLANDS, PRAIRIES DOGS, WOLVES
4.DESERTS INTERIOR PART OF THE COUNTRY CACTUS, REPTILES.
WITH LESS RAINFALL
ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION
Environmental pollution is caused by the burning of fossils fuels, urbanization due to growing population, cutting down of trees, pollutants discharge in rivers from industries these are some of the reasons of the pollution, etc there are several measures taken by the governments like setting up central pollution control board, national green tribunal to monitor the environmental loss or to take strict decision in the term of filling the gap which caused human interference etc.
